Flag Football Heads to the 2028 Olympics
The IOC has officially added flag football to the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics program, opening a global stage for the women's game and a generational opportunity for U.S. high school athletes.
Flag football will make its Olympic debut at the LA 2028 Games after a unanimous IOC vote. For girls' programs across the United States, this changes the calculus on recruiting, scholarship pathways, and year-round competitive structure. Expect rapid expansion of sanctioned high school programs and NCAA emerging-sport pilots over the next 18 months.
